Stephen Yona earned his Master’s degree in Architecture from Petra Christian University, where he focused on sustainability and high-rise building design. In 2013, he founded a design studio called OCA, which was rooted in a contextual approach and a multidimensional design perspective. In 2015, OCA was renamed SCIA, and in 2023, it rebranded as Yona Design Studio.

At Yona Design Studio, we believe that a contextual approach is the most agile and responsive way to practice architecture across diverse environments. We see architecture not only as a balance of functionality and aesthetics, but as a powerful tool for solving complex problems. 

In 2022, our Royal Avila Project was featured in Indonesia Design magazine and Bazaar Indonesia. In 2024, our revitalization design for Peneleh Cemetery also received significant public attention.

Stephen Yona has served as a keynote speaker and jury member at various architectural events. He has been a registered member of the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI) since 2016. From 2018 to 2023, he was part of the East Java Provincial board of IAI and now serves as a national board member.He also lectured at Petra Christian University’s undergraduate architecture program from 2013 to 2023 and continues to collaborate with fellow architects, artists, and community organizations.
