Santorini in the Indonesian Context
A unique retreat located on the hills of Senggigi Malimbu in Lombok, this accommodation draws a parallel with the landscapes of Santorini. Perched atop a rocky hill, it presents an architectural interpretation of Santorini’s distinctive style, adapted to the Indonesian context. The architecture of shelter is manifested in geometric massing, creating a form that harmonizes with the surroundings.
The design not only identifies the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces, but also introduces intermediary spaces, which arise as a response to the specific climatic and contextual need for shelter in Indonesia. These in-between spaces serve as a thoughtful extension of the architecture, bridging the boundaries between the natural environment and the built structure.
